THE ORBIT

Born of Heritage. Bound for Orbit.

Breacanaute™ is a cultural design house born from one radical idea: that tartan could leave Earth.

The name comes from the Gaelic word “breacan”—meaning tartan, pattern, or speckled—and the suffix “-naute,”evoking exploration, travel, and the myth of the astronaut.

Breacanaute™ — a Scottish astronaut redefined by tartan, memory, and motion. Breacanautes wear identity lightly, move with intent, and carry legacy into the unknown.

Our journey began with the creation of Space Tartan — VINCERE AD ASTRA, a textile code that honours Scottish heritage while looking unapologetically forward. From that, we designed the first TARTAN SPACESUIT® garment, not as costume or uniform, but as a cultural prototype—a symbol of orbiting heritage, grounded in craft, and built for imagination.

Breacanaute now produces limited-run garments and symbolic objects that translate this ethos into wearable form. Each piece is part artefact, part declaration—made for those who feel unbound by time or trend, and who aim not for nostalgia, but for the stars.

This is not just design.
It’s legacy in motion.
And we are only just lifting off
